Aisle Types

Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to work in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are some aisle widths to take into consideration with different units.



Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and often utilize particular guidance systems such as rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks consist of Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common models in compact retail spaces and in some warehouse and storage situations.



Narrow Aisle or NA trucks are able to operate in aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up models like for instance Reach Trucks. They are often used within warehouses and storage facilities.



Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.



Stand-Up Ergonomics

The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is large and has an 8" low step height which helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The model includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest as well as a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and thus more productive while limiting exhaustion.
