Genie Zoom Boom Portland

During the year 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed lots of clients and hence, the name was established.



Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, because the demand for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into manufacturing telehandlers, stick booms, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.



Because of the economic slump during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.



Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was only decided after the initial few years following the sale. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
