Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names such as: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk along the machine while they lift and transport loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are ideal for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances in manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to lift and move tall or unstable loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the best answer if you are searching for a cheap method for transporting loads from one location to another. If though, you are required to transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right choice.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machine designed particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles which could work in aisles of less than six feet. They are very useful pieces of equipment during physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
