Lift Truck Training

Many industries use powered industrial trucks for material handling. In the recycling industry, internal combustion powered forklifts are popular. Lift truck operation need operators who are well trained. In North America, training is a requirement, and for good reason. A forklift could cause serious property damage or personal injury if not utilized safely. A forklift which is loaded could weight three times as much as an automobile. Lift trucks are responsible for numerous industrial accidents, either as the primary or the secondary source of the accident. Training Requirement

Employers must develop and apply a training program for operators based on four factors: the types of vehicles being utilized in the workplace, the general principles of safe truck operation, the general safety requirements, according to OSHA and the certain hazards of the workplace. Training combines both formal and practical parts. At the training's completion, operators should pass an assessment showing they have the ability to correctly operate a truck. OSHA also requires that powered industrial truck operators must be trained in certain specific subject matters which apply to safely operating a lift truck.
