How to Charge a Scissor Lift

Lots of individuals value the convenience of using a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket provide much more piece of mind than attempting to perform a similar task using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best option for carrying tasks from heights.



The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries would need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.



In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the equipment next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Usually, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.



The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
